St. Philips Episcopal Church St. Philips Episcopal Church, Buffalo, New York, was organized in 1861. With the founding of St. Philips, Buffalo had three Afro-American congregations. The other two churches — one African Methodist and the other Baptist, were founded during the mid-1830s. The St. Philips' records which appear on this microfilm were obtained for filming through the offices of Father Robert G. Pope. Click here for an index to the microfilmed records.
